Responding to the Sufi Poetry of South Asia

The Sufi Poetry of South Asia has been an important inspiration for my work as well as my outlook on the world.  Not only does it provide instant access to that which is most universal, but in doing so has historically brought together different faith and cultural communities of the region.  The poetry and the music with which it is delivered, belongs to all.

I’m pleased to formalise my relationship with this rich source of inspiration by creating response pieces responding to the originals in the English language.

The following are poor quality recordings of a recent performance where I collaborated with musician Jaydev Mistry.  This is a work in progress and I look forward to seeing where this journey takes me.
